OSHA Employee Vaccines
The Vaccine Center can help your company to fulfill the required OSHA vaccines and Tuberculosis testing.
The Vaccine Center offers every vaccine available in the US including all OSHA required vaccinations and has them stocked in our offices at all times. We even have hard to find vaccines like Rabies or Japanese Encephalitis. Depending on the type of workplace you are in, we can help your company discover which vaccines are appropriate for your employees. We keep electronic medical records so your employees will have a permanent immunization record. We usually have same day or next day appointments available for vaccine services.
Hepatitis B is a viral infection that is contracted through infected blood and bodily fluids. Employers are required to make the Hepatitis B vaccine available to all employees that are at potential risk of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens, this applies to but not limited to dental offices, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals and home health agencies, correctional officers and laundry workers.
The CDC recommends that vaccination is the best way to prevent contracting the disease and to prevent complication in the future such as liver cirrhosis and primary liver cancer. The vaccine is a 3 shot series that is administered over a 6 month period.
The Vaccine Center carries all the vaccines available in the U.S., we also can provide blood titers that can tell you if your employees are immune and don’t need the vaccine.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a respiratory infection that is transmitted through respiratory droplets, such as coughing or sneezing. TB is now the second most common cause of death from infectious disease in the world after Human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/ AIDS).
The best way to prevent coming in contact with TB is to wear correct Personal Protective Equipment and frequent hand washing. An important aspect of Personal Protective Equipment is a correctly fitting mask that can be determined with a Respiratory Fit Test. This test assures that the employee’s mask fits correctly to provide maximum protection from respiratory droplets.
Employees that have the potential to come into contact with TB should have annual TB testing. This can be accomplished in 2 ways and The Vaccine Center can help you achieve that. One way is the TB skin test, where a small amount of serum is injected under the patient’s skin and then the patient has to return to the clinic within 48-72 hours to have the area examined by a trained professional to determine if it is a positive or negative test. Another option where the patient does not have to return to the clinic is a Quantiferon Gold- TB test. This test is a simple blood draw with results usually in 3-5 business days.
If either of these tests do come back positive, then CDC recommends a follow up Chest X-Ray and follow up with the patients Primary Care Provider. The Vaccine Center can help to accommodate the Chest X-Ray so your employee has minimal wait.
The Vaccine Center can help you to make sure your company is OSHA compliant. We usually have same day or next day appointments available for quick and easy access, or we can come to your place of business. Let us know how we can help!
