Drug & Alcohol Test Panels
Immediate Individual Drug Testing Available
All Vaccine Center locations are able to provide immediate drug and alcohol testing for individuals, when the situation requires immediate testing with expedited results. Immediate testing means that the testing itself is done same-day, or immediately, with the results usually reported back the next business day. This immediate drug and alcohol testing is available for situations such as: probation, legal cases, court ordered testing, divorce, custody and other testing where the results are needed immediately. Having your immediate drug or alcohol test done is always quick and easy, and the results are ALWAYS confidential and secure.
Hair Follicle Drug Testing
The newest trend in drug testing is hair follicle drug testing. The Vaccine Center offers hair follicle drug testing in all areas of the United States for individuals and for employers. Same day service is available for hair testing with a 3 -4 business day turnaround for final hair drug testing results.
Many attorneys are ordering hair follicle drug testing for court ordered drug testing, child custody drug testing and divorce drug testing. Individuals often order hair follicle drug testing for personal reasons and also parents are testing teenage children. Many parents ask, can hair collected from a brush be used? The answer is yes, but the test will be reported as having an "anonymous" donor. It is not possible to attribute the sample to any specific person and we cannot determine the time frame of the test, so the test result is not legally defensible. Not all of our testing centers are available for "anonymous" donor hair testing. This type of testing is only performed at our specialty laboratories.
Employers throughout the United States are now implementing hair testing programs due to the benefits this alternative specimen offers. Hair follicle drug testing is becoming increasingly popular.
What are some of the benefits of hair drug testing?
- Hair testing can detect the drugs/metabolites taken up to 90 days.
- Hair testing evaluates long-term patterns of repetitive drug use.
- Hair follicle testing is flexible in drug panels and can also test for EtG alcohol in hair.
- Every hair follicle test is observed and it is difficult for the testing donor to cheat on the test.
Alcohol Testing - EtG
Alcohol testing and EtG testing are both available through The Vaccine Center. Alcohol testing and EtG testing are available for individuals. For employer workplace testing, alcohol should be tested using breath or with blood samples. DOT regulated employers must use breath alcohol testing (BAT) for compliance with DOT alcohol testing requirements. Most non-DOT workplace drug free workplace program also use breath alcohol testing.
Court Ordered Alcohol Testing - Many jurisdictions have defined alcohol concentrations in terms of breath instead of blood, there is a one to one correlation between a breath alcohol level and a blood alcohol level. An individual at a 0.08% blood alcohol level will be at a 0.08% breath alcohol level. We can provide you with compliance for your court ordered alcohol testing. Urine alcohol testing is available as well as EtG alcohol testing with urine or hair.
EtG Alcohol Testing
Ethanol also commonly called ethyl alcohol, drinking alcohol, or simply alcohol is the principal type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages, produced by the fermentation of sugars by yeasts. EtG is a direct metabolite of alcohol (ethanol); the presence of EtG in urine, hair and blood may be used to detect recent ethanol ingestion, even after ethanol is no longer measurable. The presence of EtG in urine is an indicator that ethanol was ingested and can be detected in urine for up to 80 hours after ingestion. EtG is only evident when ethanol is ingested and is not produced as a result of fermentation. In addition to EtG, recent scientific studies have identified ethyl sulfate (EtS) as a second specific metabolite or biomarker of ethanol.
EtG testing is used for monitoring alcohol abstinence for probation programs, court ordered cases, child custody cases, drug court cases, DWI cases and other situations where the person is absolutely prohibited from consuming any alcohol. EtG alcohol testing is appropriated for court ordered programs or treatment programs. EtG will show consumption of any alcohol going back 80 hours on a urine EtG test and up to 90 days on a hair EtG test.
EtG is not appropriate for workplace drug testing as it does not detect current impairment or prove current consumption of alcohol during hours.
Urine Alcohol Testing
Standard urine alcohol testing may not be best suited for workplace testing. The challenge is that a positive urine alcohol test is not The Vaccine Center recommends breath alcohol testing for workplace clients who wish to determine impairment or prohibited use of alcohol. In some circumstances, a blood alcohol test may be an acceptable testing method.
Hair Testing - EtG Alcohol
The EtG Hair Alcohol Test can detect ingestion of Ethyl Alcohol within the past 7 to 90 days. EtG is a metabolite of Ethyl Alcohol, and can be detected for longer periods of time after ingestion than simply testing for Ethyl Alcohol. This test is not an under the influence test.
The detection of EtG in hair as a measure of chronic excessive alcohol consumption (as supported by the Society of Hair Testing) has become more prevalent in the drug and alcohol testing industry in the past decade.
Hair is an important sample material for determining substance misuse. This is because all foreign substances, regardless of their nature, become imbedded and remain in the hair for a long time. The analysis of chronic or excessive alcohol abuse is hair is achievable due to direct ethyl glucuronide (EtG) alcohol markers. The hair EtG alcohol test measures average alcohol consumption over a period of approximately three months, indicates the level of alcohol use during that time period, and can provide a behavioral indication of excessive use.
